Welcome back to the blog. Today's post is all about how to get your skin summer ready and to achieve that perfect tan. I thought I would show you what I like to use in my tanning routine. Now less of the small talk let's get down to business.
Hair Removal
Just like the heading suggests, the first step to that all perfect tan is to remove all visible hair on the skin. It is suggested that hair removal is required 8 hours before tan application to ensure all pores are closed and keep sensitivity at bay but just like the saying goes "Ain't nobody got time for that," unless you do well then go for it!
Now after all that de-fuzzing it's time to remove all that dead skin cells. Recently at the ITWBN event I was at (Post about that is here) we received a more than generous goodie bag filled with lovely beauty bits, a big pink bottle caught my eye. Cocoa Brown "Tough Stuff No Nonsense 3in1 Body Scrub." Just like it says this scrub is nothing but an amazing skin purifying scrub. The pumice stone and walnut shell powder is perfect combination to remove any old tan you may have left on your skin it is also perfect for those rough areas like the feet, ankles, knees. elbows and hands. I personally suffer for rough/dry skin on my legs and after using a mixture of "Tough stuff" and moisturizer my skin is now like a baby's! I would recommend to exfoliate the day before tanning.
After all that scrubbing you now need to replace some oils back into your skin to stop any tan building up into the dry patches of your skin. I would say using moisturizer should be a regular step in your daily routine I love using the Garnier body Intensive 7 Days body lotion. I know this product has been on the go for a long time but this moisturizer it the best damn thannng you will ever buy! It genuinely has transformed my skin. I usually team this with The Body Shop Shea butter. First of all the shea butter smells amazing and leaves my skin feeling so smooth.
The best part of this routine is getting all bronzed up and what best way to start is picking a tan that is the right shade for you. Thank god the days of orange fanta looking tan is gone and I think we have Marissa Carter to thank for that. Since it's launch in 2012 Cocoa Brown has become the number 1 selling tan in Ireland. I apply a generous amount of mousse onto my tanning mitt and give long and even strokes to the skin. Now this says that this is a 1 hour tan but I like to leave mine on for at least 2-3 for that perfect glow. Then rinse off in the shower and you are left looking like a bronzed goddess.
Tanning tips
- Always do a trail run.
- Always use a tanning mitt to ensure easy and an even application.
- Use a clear nail varnish on your nails to prevent any staining.
- only use and oil-free moisturizer the day of tanning application so that the oil won't break down your tan.
Cocoa Brown Tan is widely available from most good pharmacies nationwide and all Pennys/Primark stores.
Happy tanning ladies!
Until next time,
